Ann Garrison: African Court Rules that Victoire Ingabire Did Not Receive a Fair Trial In Rwanda

On Friday, November 24, the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights ruled that Rwandan political prisoner Victoire Ingabire did not receive a fair trial in Rwanda, that she was not guilty of denying or minimizing the 1994 Tutsi genocide, and that her criticism of the government should have been allowed as part of her freedom of expression within Rwandan law.
